Thanks GIVINGBack PHCC San Diego Member Meeting 2019
PHCC San Diego recently celebrated our annual Thanks Giving Back Member Meeting at The Butcher Shop. Besides having a tasty turkey dinner with all the trimmings, we enjoyed a talk from Joe Metcalf with Arise Design + Brand on “Creating a Culture of Giving: Philanthropic Strategies for 2020.” We also collected nonperishable food items for the San Diego Food Bank and toys for foster children.
Many of our PHCC San Diego members already incorporate a culture of giving in their daily business. For example, John Stevenson Plumbing, Heating and Air donates $1.00 from every invoice to the Rancho Coastal Humane Society and they have raised thousands of dollars!
Employees from the Bill Howe Family of Companies spends nearly every Wednesday at the San Diego Food Bank volunteering time to help fill boxes of food. Bill and Tina Howe are also very active in supporting the San Diego Boys & Girls Club among many other philanthropic activities.
Ideal Plumbing, title sponsors of concerts in the park, spends Fridays during the summer in the Allied Gardens community park donating grilled goodies to the community.
These are only a few of the ways our PHCC San Diego members give back to their communities. During his talk Joe challenged our members to find a cause that speaks to their heart.
Tony Godinez spoke up at the end of Joe’s talk and said he found his cause: the PHCC Academy of San Diego and specifically when our guys take their Journeyman Plumber’s Exam. Tony’s company, Strictly Plumbers, will follow John Stevenson’s example and donate $1.00 of every invoice towards the cost of the exam fees for our PHCC Academy of San Diego students.
This is the time of year to reflect and plan for the upcoming year. How will you incorporate more philanthropy and community involvement in your planning for 2020?
